The Story

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I’d love to say it’s because I get to dress up and see other kids having fun but mostly it’s because I love candy. And these wonderful socks make me think of all the candy wrappers I get to dig through on my way to a sugar coma each Halloween.

Nomadic Yarns Trusty Sock (fingering weight; 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 462 yds/100g skein): 1 skein “Smoke” (Color A)

Nomadic Yarns Trusty Sock (fingering weight; 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 462 yds/100g skein): 1 skein “The Slutty Pumpkin” (Color B)

US 1.5 (2.5mm) circular needle(s) or set of DPNs. Adjust needle size as necessary to match gauge.

Stitch markers

Tapestry needle

Sizes:

Small (Medium, Large): 7 (8, 9) inches circumference

Recommended ease: 1/2 inch of negative ease

Gauge:

36 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Notes

This pattern includes directions for socks knit from the top down with a standard short row heel. The left and right socks are identical to each other with the exception of the colorwork pattern for the Front/Instep sts of the sock. The colorwork charts are mirror images of each other.

The pattern is written for the Magic Loop technique, but any circular knitting method can be substituted.

Special Techniques:

Wrap and turn: full instrcutions on this technique are detailed in the pattern to complete the short-row heel.

Special thanks go out to Sheila (@knittysheshe) for knitting these up for the pattern (I’d be lost without my test knitters) and to Nomadic Yarns for the yarn support - it’s GORGEOUS yarn!
