New Pattern: Railroadster Cowl

I've been working on this beauty for a month.

No, seriously. A month. And not because the pattern is hard but because I've been so busy with Christmas knitting. And then one day I sat down to knit the second cowl, the larger of the two, as a matter of fact, and I finished it in just a few hours. Yay for quick knits (and last minute Christmas gift knitting!!!!).

The Railroadster Cowl

Featuring Manos Del Uruguay's ridiculously luxurious Manos Maxima (which totally sounds like a spell from Harry Potter) this cowl is sure to please even the most picky of knit-gift recipients. Or just make a delectable addition to your own knit stash.

Here's where to find it:

This cowl name is inspired primarily by the design, which I think looks a bit like railroad tracks, but the colorway reminds me of one of my favorite cocktails, the Railroadster. And since I love a little drinky poo with my knitting I thought I'd share this delicious recipe with you so we can be sipping sisters (or brothers, though that alliteration wasn't as fun).

The Railroadster (the drink, not the cowl):

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp fine zest of lime
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 measures white rum
  • 1/2 measure Galliano
  • 1 measure lime juice
  • Crushed ice
  • Dry ginger (ginger ale)

Instructions:

  • Mix the zest and sugar together.
  • Rub the Tim of a glass with a little rum then dip it into the sugar to coat thoroughly.
  • Set aside to dry.
  • Shake all the remaining ingredients except dry ginger together with the crushed ice until well chilled.
  • Pour into the glass and top up with a little dry ginger to taste.

Get to Knitting!

Go grab your knitting needles, your most scrumptious worsted weight yarn and a good cocktail glass and make your weekend count.

Oh - and if you've read all the way to this point you'll see that I'm giving it away for free until midnight tonight (PST) with code "FREERAIL".

Happy knitting!!!
