NEW TUTORIAL: STEP-BY-STEP AFTERTHOUGHT POCKET (FULL TUTORIAL!)
Happy first Wednesday of May!
I’ve often thought that the name ‘afterthought pocket’ isn’t quite accurate. Afterthought pockets are anything BUT an afterthought! If you want to add one to your project there’s some definite planning that goes into it!
Today’s tutorial walks you through every step, from placing lifelines, knitting the face and interior of the pocket, and even my preferred methods for seaming the pocket to the inside of the sweater. Grab a cup of coffee and settle in. This one isn’t as quick as some tutorials but it’s jam-packed with tips to help you make a fantastic pocket!

Hello, May!
April felt like a bit of a whirlwind to me! Over here in Oregon we had weeks of cold, rainy weather followed by 4 glorious days where we saw temps hit the 90’s! The pollen has arrived!
But here in our little corner of the knitting-verse, we had two new episodes of Knit Talk where we discussed modifying a project for gauge using a beanie pattern (a sweater modification episode is coming sooooooon!), along with how to find your perfect pickup ratio. And we looked at different ways to join our work in the round and weaving in ends! Woo! Not to shabby for just 4 weeks!
I thought a look back would be kind of fun since it feels like this year is marching ahead at full speed! Here’s a little wrap up of some of my favorite moments of the month - bit of a color-story going on there, no?
Thank you so much for being here! I wish you a very happy May full of sunshine and growth and not too many allergies (ah… ah… achoo!). I hope you’ll find some joy and peace in your knitting this week!
With love and knitting,
Meaghan
